Introduction to Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping - IABP
This general Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping course is designed to provide nurses and allied health professionals with a working knowledge of IABP physiology and operation. This course will benefit those who are either unfamiliar with or in need of a review of the fundamentals of Counterpulsation Therapy.
Topics include:
Goals for IABP therapy; Indications for use; Contraindications for use; Catheter positioning; Waveforms & hemodynamics changes; Complications associated with IABP therapy; Nursing care; Importance of timing; and Troubleshooting techniques.
Optional Hands-on Session:
Specific functionality of the Arrow IAPB console will be discussed at the optional 1.5 hr session following the lunch break.
