COURSE DESCRIPTION
These Emergency Department Nursing classes are designed for the entry level RN and the experienced RN who would like to increase their knowledge in specific areas often seen in the ED. The components of the Emergency Department Nursing include:
Pediatrics for the ED Nurse
Special considerations when dealing with pediatric patients in the ED. The Unresponsive & Neurologically impaired patient in the ED: This course covers a standardized approach to the assessments and initial critical interventions for the impaired patient in the ED.
The Unresponsive & Neurologically impaired patient in the ED
This course covers a standardized approach to the assessments and initial critical interventions for the impaired patient in the ED.
Topics not Covered in Nursing School
This day covers an introduction to assertiveness; identification of environmental emergencies, causes, presentations and treatment in ED; and WMD (weapons of mass destruction) the problem and the role of the ED.
ABD/OB/GU/GI in the ED
Initial assessment and stabilization of patients complaining of abdominal pain, genital-urinary, obstetric or gastrointestinal complaints. Including key points of assessing the severity of illness.
The Critical Patient in the ED
This course covers management of the patient presenting with cardiac problems, including AMI, CHF. Management of CVP Lines, Arterial Lines and pacemakers. CV medication review. Acute Respiratory failure, sepsis, shock and ventilators are also covered.
COURSE GOALS
To provide the ED nurse with the tools to identify, intervene and to safely manage patients with varied system problems through the ED process.

C.E. INFORMATION
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, CEP# 07960. Each day attended, 7 CE’s will be issued.
REFUNDS
The registration fee will be refunded provided notice of cancellation
is given in writing 14 days prior to course date. The registration
fee will be refunded in full if, for any reason, Continuing
Education Consortium cancels the program.
