COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This
3 day Basic Cardiac Monitoring Course is designed to acquaint
the learner with essential information necessary to interpret
basic EKG tracings.
NOTE: This is a BASIC course; advanced dysrhythmias
will NOT be discussed.
COURSE
OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of this course, the participants
will be able to:
- Relate basic principles of electro-physiology to wave
patterns produced on EKG graph paper.
- Determine measurements and rates of EKG tracings on graph
paper.
- Recognize uncomplicated arrhythmias in each of the following
categories:
Sinus Rhythms
Atrial Rhythms
Juntional Rhythms
Heart Blocks
Ventricular Rhythms
Paced Rhythms
- Relate basic principles of cardiac pacing.
- Successfully complete a two hour EKG multiple choice
and rhythm interpretation exam.
COURSE
COMPLETION CRITERIA
- Completion of all pre-readings.
- Completion of all homework assignments prior to class.
- Completion of all instructor and course evaluations.
- Completion of daily quizzes.
- Pass recognition quiz of urgent arrhythmias with 100%
accuracy the first time.
- Pass a multiple choice and rhythm strip interpretation
final exam with 85% accuracy. This test must be taken within
two weeks after completion of the course.
- Attendance at EVERY class is mandatory to receive
a certificate.
Upon successful completion of the preceding criteria, a Certificate of Completion will be issued. For those students who successfully complete the above criteria, except for passing the final test, a CE certificate will be issued.

INFORMATION Upon receipt of your registration form, a
confirmation letter stating date, time and location will be
sent. If you do not receive confirmation in approximately
2 weeks, please contact our office immediately. Your confirmation
letter will act as an acknowledgment of your enrollment in
the course.
REGISTRATION
INFORMATION
Registration deadline is one week prior to the first class
date or when the class limit is reached. Registration is by
mail only and will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve
basis. Hospital facilitators may fax registration.

MATERIALS
The cost of the course includes your syllabus and calipers. The text is optional. Once purchased, course materials cannot be returned.
C.E. INFORMATION
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing,
CEP# 07960, for 24 contact hours.
REFUNDS
The registration fee will be refunded provided notice of cancellation
is given in writing 14 days prior to course date. The registration
fee will be refunded in full if, for any reason, Continuing
Education Consortium cancels the program.
